“Highly Recommended. A fast-moving, expertly performed, downright charming new revue. As a trio of women in vaudeville mode, a short man singing of the virtues of dating short men, or a country western singer backed by a band composed of her four ex-husbands (the three men in the cast, plus the fine musical director, Jesse Case), the ensemble gathered here are uniformly smart, versatile, and fiercely interactive.” - The Chicago Sun-Times

Due to the ornate set-up of my equipment, one critic mistakenly referred to me as a “DJ” in his description the show. In trying to create a “live” environment as much as possible, I pared many of these tracks down into their basic elements and ran them piece by piece using a drum machine and live sampling... all in addition to my regular synth/piano/guitar/laptop set up.

As a rule I don’t sample other people’s music in my production work, but my sound design for Second City has been the exception. To match the show’s heightened sense of self-awareness, most of my samples came from live performances - mostly musicals and musical theater. There’s also a handful of live country recordings and a fair amount of archive New Orleans Jazz recordings.
